What ElementVault Is

ElementVault is an interactive periodic table and chemistry learning platform — a single self-contained web application that runs entirely in the browser. It includes an element explorer, twelve chemistry calculators, a spaced-repetition study system, and curriculum-aligned lesson companions for grades 6 through university.

Ownership

ElementVault, the ElementVault™ name, the underlying source code, curriculum content, visual design, and the brand identity are the intellectual property of Christopher Chiu. All rights are reserved.

Element data is sourced from public-domain and openly-licensed scientific datasets (NIST, PubChem, NNDC, and the Materials Project under CC BY 4.0, attributed). The compilation, presentation, and pedagogical structure of that data within ElementVault remain the original creative work of the author.

Permitted Use

You are free to use ElementVault for the following purposes at no cost:

• Personal study — students may use ElementVault to learn chemistry on any device, with no account required.
• Classroom teaching — teachers may use ElementVault as a classroom resource and may direct students to use it for coursework.
• Educational demonstration — non-commercial demonstration of the product to colleagues, peers, or in educational publications with attribution.

Prohibited Use

The following uses are not permitted without a written license agreement:

• Redistribution of the ElementVault HTML file, its source code, or its curriculum content, in whole or in part, on any third-party website, app store, or platform.
• Resale of ElementVault — directly or as part of a bundled product or service.
• Institutional deployment — hosting ElementVault on a school district, university, or company server for organizational use without a license.
• Derivative works — building a competing chemistry-education tool that incorporates ElementVault's curriculum content, code, or distinctive design.
• Removal of attribution — modifying or stripping the copyright notice, author credit, or ElementVault™ branding.
• Training of machine-learning models on ElementVault's curriculum content or code without a license.

Data & Privacy

ElementVault stores study progress locally in your browser using localStorage. No data is sent to any server, no account is required, and no analytics or tracking services are loaded. Study progress can be exported to a file you control and imported on another device.

Data Sources & Licenses

ElementVault aggregates publicly-available scientific reference data. Each source retains its own copyright; ElementVault claims no rights in the underlying source data.

• NIST WebBook & NIST atomic-data tables — Public domain (US Government work). Linked from each element's Links tab.
• PubChem (US National Center for Biotechnology Information / NIH) — Public domain.
• NNDC NuDat (US Department of Energy / Brookhaven National Laboratory) — Public domain. Source for nuclear and isotope data.
• Materials Project (Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory / MIT) — CC BY 4.0. Attributed in the Live Data panel of each element.
• Wikipedia / Wikimedia Commons — Images are fetched at runtime and verified against the Wikimedia file-metadata API before display. Only images released under CC0, Public Domain, or CC BY (with attribution) are shown. Images under share-alike, fair-use, or unverifiable licenses are not displayed. Each displayed image is captioned with author and license per the source's terms.
• SM-2 spaced repetition algorithm — Published academic research (Wozniak, 1990). Algorithm itself is not subject to copyright; ElementVault's implementation is original.

The author makes no warranty as to the downstream licensing status of any third-party content surfaced by ElementVault and assumes no liability for downstream commercial reuse of fetched images. Users redistributing ElementVault content must independently verify the license status of any third-party material.

No Warranty

ElementVault is provided "as is," without warranty of any kind, express or implied. While every effort has been made to ensure scientific accuracy, ElementVault is an educational tool and is not a substitute for textbooks, laboratory instruction, or professional scientific or safety advice.
